Personal Information and Phishing...

"Phishing" is a technique used by dishonest companies for the purpose of stealing personal and financial information. Generally, these fraudulent e-mails appear to come from a well known company (as seen in the "From" line of the e-mail). They ask you to provide them with personal or financial information by clicking on a link. These messages are almost always characterized by their urgent nature. If you click on the "Phishing" e-mail you will see a fraudulent webpage imitating the legitimate company’s website, on which you will be asked to divulge personal information such as:

passwords
usernames
PIN number
social security number
account number
mother’s maiden name

We at Equity One will NEVER ask for your personal information via e-mail.

If you suspect that you have been a victim or have received a fraudulent e-mail, send us the suspicious e-mail at: emailhoax@equityone.com. "Drag and drop" the fraudulent
e-mail from your inbox onto a new e-mail message. Please avoid using the "forward" feature because the necessary information to process the fraudster may be lost in this process.
